The woman, Esperanza Montoya, had picked up her mother at work — at Murdoch’s Ranch & Home Supply — between 3 and 4 p.m. Dec. 15, 2023, in a Ford Explorer before going to the Yellowstone River to hang out, according to court documents. The crash was reported about 5 p.m. that day.
An 18-year-old Butte woman faces two felonies and three misdemeanors related to allegations she drove while intoxicated and caused a single-vehicle crash that killed her 50-year-old mother, Vanetta Montoya, last December.
