PHOENIX — A federal appeals court has tossed out a bid by Republican state lawmakers to overturn the designation of nearly a million acres of federal land near the Grand Canyon the Biden administration had dedicated a national monument.
In a new ruling Wednesday, the three-judge panel concluded GOP legislative leaders lack the legal standing to even bring a claim in federal court over creation in 2023 of the Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument. Ditto, they said, of Republican state Treasurer Kimberly Yee.
