With Arizona’s candidate filing deadline now in the rearview mirror, the two legislative districts representing Flagstaff and its surrounding areas will officially have at least two new elected officials.
Democratic Sen. Theresa Hatathlie, who has represented Arizona’s 6th Legislative District in the state Senate since she was appointed to replace Jamescita Peshlakai in January 2022, is not running a third reelection campaign after previously being uncontested in 2022 and 2024. In Arizona’s 7th Legislative District, Republican Rep. David Marshall is seeking one of the two seats up for election on the Arizona Corporation Commission after spending a pair of two-year terms in the Arizona House of Representatives.
