Directing more than $7,000 in community initiative funds to a pair of local organizations, the Coconino County Board of Supervisors provided support to The Literacy Center and Flagstaff Shelter Services during its meeting Tuesday.
A total of $1,600 in funding was approved on April 7 for The Literacy Center in support of community literacy outreach in the form of free books and literacy resources being provided to families through literacy fairs and community partnerships. The funding consists of $500 from District 1, $500 from District 2, $300 from District 3 and $300 from District 4. Flagstaff Shelter Services received a total of $5,750 to assist with its 20th anniversary celebration scheduled for Saturday, April 18, at Warner’s Nursery. District 1 provided $2,500, followed by $1,000 from both District 2 and District 5, with $750 from District 4 and $500 from District 3.
