First it was April, then it was May, now it’s unknown. After postponing the date of a vote on potential data center development restrictions by a month, the Flagstaff City Council agreed this week to further postpone any decision, without establishing a definite timeline.
The council was originally scheduled to consider a possible update to the City of Flagstaff’s zoning code on April 7, but pushed that back to May 5 upon the request of city staff. This week, the council granted a second request from staff to delay discussing or voting on the two code amendments up for consideration — one that would make the development of large data centers subject to a conditional use permitting process and another that would ban large data centers outright.
