Letter to the Editor: Flagstaff can be part of reducing carbon emissions

On April 25, 2026, the Arizona Daily Sun posted a Letter to Editor (LTE) opposing the Regional Plan due to the Carbon Neutral Plan (CNP). The Regional Plan is extensive, addresses numerous issues, and offers direction for Flagstaff’s future. As former co-chair of local land plan, issues have multiple facets and degrees of solvability within an administrative structure. I’ve never read a long-term plan with which I totally agreed or disagreed, only ones which articulated combinations of potential solutions.

The aforementioned LTE lambasted the “$600M” to finance the CNP, an amount far exceeding what city agencies have, to my knowledge, considered as the probable cost. Because no defined time length, it’s impossible to calculate CNP’s true financial.
