The heart of the outdoor racing calendar got into full swing for NAZ Elite as the year shifted to June. A pair of national championships by runners Ahmed Muhumed and Florence Caron highlighted a weekend in which nearly half of the Flagstaff-based teams’ runners competed.
Muhumed won his third U.S. championship on June 6, winning the USA Track and Field 4 Mile Championship in Peoria, Illinois. He finished his gold medal run with a time of 17:57, winning a head-to-head final stride against former Pan American Games medalist Reid Buchanan of Kansas City Smoke by three seconds.
