1926: LOCAL BREVITIES: Ira Hart and family of Kingman were in Flagstaff over the holiday. O. Medley, electrician for the Flagstaff Lumber Co., went to Phoenix last week for special eye treatment. George Reed, who is making “Echo Park” famous out near Grand Canyon, was in Flagstaff Tuesday looking over the wreckage after the Fourth. Just in, new selection of cards for all occasions — Gassman Newsstand and Gift Shop. J.V. Morrison spent holidays visiting his brother and family in Prescott. Lee Doyle and Oscar Lundahl made a business trip to the White Mountains this week. Spence Dingle of Breen-Dingle Drug Co. has been holding jollification meetings all week with former Mesa friends. The City of Mesa was well represented here during the celebration week. Many are still down at Mormon Lake or Lake Mary hooking fish for a week or 10 days longer. Sheriff W. P. Mahoney of Kingman was in the city Monday enjoying the ‘49ers celebration and incidentally interviewing democratic voters as to his candidacy for state mine inspector. Bill is one of the most popular sheriffs in the state and widely known as a “go-getter.” The north will undoubtedly stand behind its favorite son and hand him a good majority. Last Saturday as Byrd Matthews was backing his Ford, the reverse gear stuck and the car shot backward 20 feet. Little Edward Solberg was standing in line with the wheels and his right foot was badly scraped by the tire. Clarence Pulliam carried Edward to Dr. Schermann’s office, where the foot was cared for.
