Here’s a real head-scratcher for you: Congress dropped at least $27,500 on posters in just the first two months of the year. That’s right, while most of us are sticking to our grocery budgets, they’re busy creating colorful charts that raise eyebrows more than arguments. The analysis indicates that Republicans took the lead with the most poster use, but when you see what they’ve come up with, you might wonder if they’ve been watching too much late-night television.
Among the contenders for “Most Bizarre Poster” is Rep. Greg Casar’s “Fire Elon, Save Elmo.” Yes, you read that correctly. You have to wonder what brainstorming session birthed that nugget. Not to be outdone, Senator Eric Schmitt took a moment to criticize diversity and inclusion practices in the military with a poster that actually misspelled “military.” Nothing like a grammatical error to really hammer home your point about standards, right?
On the bright side, not all was lost in the realm of creativity. Senator Joni Ernst’s “Washington-opoly” was a refreshing take, cleverly critiquing government spending with a nod to the classic board game. At least that one caught a chuckle! So the real question here is, what’s the most ridiculous thing you think Congress could spend taxpayer money on next? You can bet they could surprise us all again!
