At its work session Tuesday, March 24, the Flagstaff City Council discussed the possibility of putting increased funding for police, firefighters and emergency management on the November 2026 city ballot.
The general concept has been under evaluation for over a year now by city staff and a citizen committee, but no specific proposals have yet been submitted to the council for evaluation or approval. Tuesday’s presentation followed a big-picture approach in identifying unmet needs in the city’s public safety departments, explaining how those gaps have emerged and estimating what it would cost the city to fund all the identified deficiencies.
