1926: Plenty of water, everybody! Wash your cars, water your lawns, use all you want. The 50-million-gallon reservoir is full to overflowing. The old bowl is filling. On the verge of a water famine for the last two years, within three weeks our water supply increased from about 3 to more than 50 million gallons. City council Monday night lifted the ban on using city water for washing cars, lawns, etc. The mills were granted use of water, and several days ago the Santa Fe railroad company resumed getting water for engines here and a few days later began arrangements to haul it to Grand Canyon as formerly. Even a week ago yesterday the reservoir wasn’t half full, and so the rate of daily increase has been high.
