With more than a week’s worth of daily record high temperatures, including two surpassing all-time records set for the following month, it should come as no surprise that March in Flagstaff was the hottest in history.
Averaging a high of 66.9 degrees, an average of 48.5 degrees and a low of 30 degrees, all three marks surpassed the previous records set between 83 and 92 years ago as measured at the Flagstaff Pulliam Airport. The previous monthly high temperature for March was 62.1 in 1934, with 2024 the most recent total in the top five at 58.9 degrees. March’s highest all-time average temperature was also set in 1934, coming in at 44.9 degrees after 2024 had missed breaking the mark at 42.7 degrees. The average low of 30 degrees surpassed 1943’s previous high of 27.9 degrees, with 2024 also in the top 10 at 26.6.
