In a puzzling turn of events, the Bellevue Police Department is on the hunt for 13-year-old Simeon Wiens, who went missing after being spotted running around Factoria Mall early Friday morning. Visiting from Spokane, he vanished between visits to the shops and an accidental detour into a game of hide-and-seek. Word to the wise—next time you plan a retail adventure with your family, maybe don’t turn it into a scavenger hunt, especially when you’re down to only $20 and no cell phone!
Simeon was last seen donning a bright teal blue Under Armour sweatshirt, which, let’s be honest, sounds like the perfect outfit for losing yourself in a sea of shoppers. The police, however, don’t believe he poses any danger to himself, which is a relief. They’re focusing on reuniting him with his family staying at a local hotel, and it seems the biggest worry is figuring out what prompted his sudden departure. Maybe he thought he was auditioning for a reality game show—America’s Next Top Runaway?
In the meantime, parents everywhere might want to remind their kids about the importance of staying close and maybe even turning off that “hitchhiking spirit” for a while. But in all seriousness, let’s join forces and keep an eye out for Simeon. With so little to go on, every set of eyes helps. It takes a village, after all. Have you ever had a moment where you wandered off as a kid? What happened?
