Imagine moving to a quaint Missouri town only to find out your new neighbors hold some shockingly outdated beliefs. Enter Return to the Land, a whites-only membership group looking to expand into the state. This controversial community champions “traditional views and European ancestry,” but let’s be real, it’s just a fancy way of saying they prefer to keep things colorless. They already have a base in Northeast Arkansas, and now they seem to have their sights set on Missouri. And surprise, surprise, Jewish folks need not apply!
The group’s cofounder, Eric Orwoll, is feeling pretty confident about their chances, claiming he’s got lawyers backing them up. That’s right, they’re gearing up for a legal battle to fight for their exclusionary lifestyle. Meanwhile, the Anti-Defamation League is stepping in to oppose this throwback to segregation, urging officials to take action against the group’s plans. Are we really going back to the days when neighborhoods were defined by who you excluded rather than who you welcomed?
One has to wonder, in an era that preaches inclusivity, what’s the appeal of a whites-only lifestyle? Would anyone really want to live in a bubble devoid of diversity? Seems like a poor choice, but hey, if they really want to hang out in the woods cutting trees and doing pull-ups, more power to them—just do it without the hate. So, can Missouri stand firm and kick these wannabe time travelers to the curb? The answer is still up in the air!
