In a twist that sounds straight out of a Hollywood script, a Southwest Airlines pilot is facing serious consequences after failing multiple sobriety tests right before a scheduled flight. David Allsop, 52, was arrested in Georgia after police received reports that he reeked of alcohol. And yes, folks, there is body cam footage that captures the whole cringe-inducing scene. It’s the kind of drama that’s just too juicy not to watch!
Allsop admitted that he had a few beers the night before but insisted he hadn’t had a drink in ten hours—a pivotal time frame under FAA regulations. Still, officers weren’t buying it, mentioning the unmistakable odor of alcohol despite his claims that it was just his nicotine gum making him smell like a bar. Talk about an excuse that just doesn’t take off!
The pilot eventually underwent field sobriety tests, and spoiler alert: he failed two out of three. Let’s just say that when you’re a pilot, “not taking the breathalyzer” isn’t exactly a great move. With his license now revoked and criminal charges looming, it raises the question: was Allsop’s choice to drink really worth the risk?
