Sometimes, weddings can be a royal pain—even for royalty! After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding, it appears Prince Philip couldn’t hide his true feelings, allegedly quipping to the Queen, “Thank f*** that’s over.” This jaw-dropping moment came straight from former royal butler Grant Harrold’s forthcoming memoir, where he spills the tea on his time in the palace.
Despite the celebratory mood, Philip had a lot on his plate and didn’t have as much chance to bond with Meghan as one might expect. Royal biographer Ingrid Seward mentioned that Philip was quite welcoming to Meghan at their very first meeting. Yet, given his retirement, he had little time to develop that relationship before their wedding. Makes you wonder how smooth things really went behind those castle walls, doesn’t it?
After stepping back from royal duties, Harry faced even more familial tension, especially during Philip’s funeral. He revealed that conversations with William and Charles were less about remembering granddad and more about navigating complex family feelings. So, amid the pomp and circumstance, was there a little bit of “thank goodness it’s over” relief happening within the family? Tell us what you think about royal weddings—are they all glitter or just a bit awkward?
