When you think you’re having a rough week, just remember Anthony Raymond Dodd, a 36-year-old man from Seattle. His dramatic trip to meet his community corrections officer turned into quite a spectacle when law enforcement discovered he was packing both fentanyl and a loaded gun. Now that’s what we’d call an unfortunate mix-up, and certainly not the way to impress your parole officer!
Dodd had a history that reads like a crime drama, including previous convictions for robbery and sexual assault. But one would think during this meeting, he’d leave the illegal activities at home. Instead, he allegedly thought it was fine to bring his newfound “business” to his appointment. When corrections officers learned Dodd was possibly dealing “blues” — a euphemism for fentanyl pills — they shadowed him right to the meeting. Spoiler alert: it didn’t end well for him.
In a twist of fate, Dodd’s fate was sealed after a jury deliberated for just about six hours, ultimately convicting him. By now, he’s learned that being a felon in possession of a firearm is no laughing matter—he’s about to face some serious prison time. It’s a classic case of thinking you can get away with it—kinda like trying to sneak snacks into the movie theater!
So, what’s the lesson here? Maybe don’t mix business with your corrections appointments! But seriously, what do you think drives someone like Dodd to make such reckless decisions?
