While smoke began to flow into the Flagstaff area on Thursday afternoon due to a controlled burn southwest of the city, a small vegetation fire also began just after 2 p.m. just north of Lake Mary Road.
Named the Diamond Fire, WatchDuty detailed that the fire was burning timber litter and grass near Diamond Road as of 2:27 p.m., according to air resources. Originally reported between two and three acres, units responded to the incident that is roughly three miles southeast of the intersection of Lake Mary Road and Beulah Boulevard, south of Pine Canyon Golf Club and east of Flagstaff Pulliam Airport.
