The “almond mom” phenomenon has become quite the buzzword, thanks to Yolanda Hadid and a TikTok clip featuring her daughter Gigi. The clip resurfaced and suddenly everyone was pointing fingers at Yolanda for being the poster mom for strict and often unhealthy eating habits. Basically, she told Gigi to munch on a couple of almonds when she wasn’t feeling well, and suddenly it turned her into a walking diet culture scandal. Talk about a mother’s love gone nuts!
Several celebrities have jumped into the conversation, sharing their own experiences with diet rules from childhood. Allison Holker admitted to being an “almond mom” herself, dishing out strict food rules to her daughter Weslie in their home. Susan Sarandon’s daughter Eva Amurri chimed in, revealing that her mom’s food choices were so strict, even Cheerios were considered junk food. Who knew that breakfast could have such a high standard of approval?
The conversation then transitions into how this “almond mom” lifestyle affects kids growing up today. Nutritionist Maya Feller says kids tend to mimic the dietary habits of their parents. So let’s be real—if your mom is all about those almonds and greens, there’s a good chance you might be sneaking snacks behind her back. It’s all about balance after all, and isn’t it time we embrace a little fun with food?
