West Point is in hot water over its ongoing embrace of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, despite efforts from the Trump administration to dismantle them. The academy’s commitment to these ideologies, particularly through the teachings of sociology professor Dr. Morten Ender, has raised eyebrows and drawn the ire of congressional watchdogs. Even after numerous congressional hearings, it seems like much of the same ol’ woke culture is alive and well in those hallowed halls. Who knew military training could be so complicated?
The situation gets even murkier when you look at faculty members still pushing DEI narratives, like Lisa Benitez and Col. Archie Bates III. While West Point has put some PR spin on their reforms, folks are questioning just how deep the roots of this ‘wokeness’ run. Are they trying to wash away years of ideological baggage with a simple makeover? Spoiler alert: it doesn’t seem to be working!
One can’t help but wonder if the fight against DEI policies is merely surface-level. With influential figures still firmly planted in their positions, one has to ask: will meaningful change come to West Point, or will it be more of the same? And let’s be honest, is it time for a military academy to focus on, you know, military excellence instead of ideological battles? Start the conversation below!
