Picture this: it’s late at night, and you’re feeling the urge for a late-night stroll. Sounds peaceful, right? Well, one individual in Bonney Lake, Washington, learned the hard way that choosing the wrong lane (literally) during a nighttime walk can lead to some serious consequences. While making their way on 214th Ave E, they found themselves in the path of a police patrol car around 11:58 p.m. Spoiler alert: it didn’t end well for the pedestrian.
Fortunately, the officers acted quickly when they struck the person, jumping out to offer aid before calling for backup in the form of an ambulance. After a trip to Tacoma General Hospital, our unlucky pedestrian was released, probably with a few lessons learned about pedestrian safety and a newfound appreciation for sidewalks. It’s a given that this person will think twice about straying from designated walking paths in the future. Note to self: Always look both ways, folks.
If there’s one takeaway from this story, it’s that the streets can be more dangerous than they appear, especially when they’re shared with cars on duty.
