In a classic case of “let’s not go there,” Keith Urban recently ended an interview after a rather awkward question about his wife, Nicole Kidman. During the chat, Urban was asked about Kidman’s steamy scenes with Zac Efron in the new film “A Family Affair.” Clearly, Urban wasn’t having any of it and gracefully chose to walk away rather than dive into a topic that could have spiraled out of control.
It’s easy to understand why Urban took issue with the question. He’s been married to Kidman since June 2006, and they share two daughters whose privacy is likely a top priority for both of them. When you’re in Hollywood, the line between personal and professional can get blurry, and not all topics are fair game. It’s refreshing to see a celebrity stand up for their family’s boundaries, even when cameras are rolling.
This incident begs the question: how personal should interviews get? On one hand, juicy details attract viewers, but on the other hand, they can lead to incredibly uncomfortable situations. What do you think? Should celebrities have the right to shut down invasive questions, or should they be open to discussing anything that comes their way?
