In an unbelievable display of courage, 13-year-old Gauge Bryant jumped into action to rescue an 11-year-old boy who fell off the dock at Thornton Park. Gauge didn’t hesitate when he heard frantic cries for help; he dove under murky waters to locate the submerged child. Honestly, when so many adults might freeze in panic, Gauge quickly turned into everyone’s favorite real-life superhero. Talk about stepping up when it counts!
After locating the boy, Gauge brought him to the surface and began performing CPR, with the help of some nearby nurses. The child had been underwater for four to six minutes, a lifetime in those dire moments. Thanks to Gauge’s quick thinking and the community’s quick action, this incredible rescue ended with a sigh of relief instead of tragedy. It’s proof that heroes can wear any face—especially if they’re only 13!
This incident also highlights an important takeaway: water safety is no kiddie pool matter. I’d say we should all get a little CPR training; after all, you never know when a superhero might be needed. What’s your go-to first aid tip for parents and kids at the beach?
