Buckle up, Everett commuters! The Washington State Department of Transportation has announced a whopping 14-week paving project starting July 19, and it’s going to make driving through Everett feel a bit like navigating a construction-themed obstacle course. The work will mostly happen during evenings and overnight, but don’t be surprised if you find yourself caught in a delay during the day. Why? Because they’ve got to shut down up to four left lanes on I-5—it’s like a rush hour game of Tetris, and we’re all just trying to keep our sanity intact.
The project will kick off on the southbound lanes between 41st Street and 100th Street Southeast, right by the Everett Mall, before tackling the northbound lanes next. Think you can handle a few lane closures without losing your cool? Well, the Broadway HOV on-ramp will be closed too, while the general purpose on-ramp from Broadway remains open. It’s time to take the scenic route—unless you consider it a “detour,” of course.
If you’re a motorcyclist, it’s especially critical to keep your eyes peeled for grooved and uneven pavement. Remember, caution is key here; nothing says adventure like a bumpy ride, just not the kind you’d find in an amusement park! How do you plan to cope with the changes on I-5? Whether you’re adjusting your commute or finding new routes, it’s bound to be a ride to remember!
