New Northern Arizona University athletic director Richard Duran was no stranger to the athletic program when he applied for his new role a few months ago. The longtime athletic director at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) was directly involved in scheduling the ongoing four-game home-and-home football series between his old and new school.
Duran spearheaded the series details, which put UIW on NAU’s schedule for four straight seasons starting in 2024. He strategically picked the Lumberjacks because he believed his Cardinals were more likely to snag wins before play in the Southland Conference began.
