In Glasgow, Kiki the cat isn’t just your average house pet—she’s a daily guardian for her young owner, 10-year-old Sonny. Every morning, Kiki senses when it’s time for school and trots alongside him and his classmates, waiting patiently on the playground until the school day ends. It’s hard to believe that this dedicated feline has perfect attendance, and even more impressive that she’s been dubbed the school’s unofficial mascot!
Kiki’s influence goes beyond her adorable antics; her owner, Michelle Scott, believes she’s brought immeasurable joy to children and staff alike. Not to mention, teachers are seizing the opportunity to teach kids about treating animals with respect. Talk about a cat with a mission! It’s no wonder Kiki has been nominated for a National Cat Award. What better way to celebrate her outstanding contributions to the school community than with a shiny trophy?
With voting open until July 31 and winners announced in September, it’s anyone’s guess whether this cat will snag the title. Kiki’s story reminds us just how intertwined our lives can be with our furry friends. So, if you could have a pet as your sidekick, who would it be and what adventures would you take together?
