Maikya Slim, a 2026 graduate from Summit High School, demonstrated advocacy and pride for the Indigenous community in Flagstaff while educating herself for a possible career in the medical field.
Slim is originally from Page and moved to Flagstaff with her family so her mother could pursue her nursing degree. Watching her mother pursue her dream career motivated Slim to also consider a career in nursing.
