Callom Caird had about two or three base hits all season when he came up to bat in extra innings of the Flagstaff Little League AAA championship game on Tuesday at Dawson Field. The last hitter in the batting order, who struck out in his two previous at-bats, had a moment most kids dream about. Caird hit the walk-off base hit to right field to drive in Eli Hayward to give Flagstaff Little League AAA Pink an 8-7 victory over FLL AAA Black.
FLL AAA Pink had to win two games on Tuesday after coming through the loser’s bracket. Holding on to win the first game, 12-11, was a precursor to how evenly matched the two teams were.
