In a surprising turn of events, nearly 7,500 Seattle City Light customers found themselves facing a sudden power outage Monday morning. The outage struck at 6:14 a.m. and primarily affected the Queen Anne area, causing a collective groan among residents as their morning routines were thrown into disarray. The affected areas stretched between Mount Pleasant Cemetery and Kinnear Park, leaving folks questioning whether today would be more of a “coffee and candles” day than a “coffee and Wi-Fi” kind of morning.
Seattle City Light has reported that crews are currently investigating the cause. With a restoration time estimated at 10:15 a.m., one can only imagine what plans were derailed. If you were hoping to catch up on your favorite show or enjoy streaming some music while getting ready, you might just find yourself flipping through a book instead or—gasp!—having an actual conversation with your family. The horror!
Interestingly, power outages can be a unique way to remind us how dependent we’ve become on technology. When was the last time you experienced a blackout that turned into an unexpected adventure? A power outage could be the perfect opportunity to embrace your inner caveman: grab some flashlights and enjoy some unplugged quality time. Just don’t forget to ask, how would you cope if you were without power for an entire day?
