The Northland Preparatory Academy (NPA) boys soccer team has a new coach this season, one that has as much experience coaching in the city as the school could hope for given the circumstances of the role.
Erik Carrillo took over as the Spartans head coach just a few weeks before the season began on Tuesday. NPA lost its opener at Sinagua Middle School to the Show Low Cougars, 3-0. Carrillo called the game a test for him to see what he had to work with.
