1926: According to the Chamber of Commerce, considerable interest has been evidenced in town regarding the organizing of a tennis club. It seems that there are no available courts for the use of those interested in the game here in the city. For this reason, the Chamber of Commerce is asking all those interested in organizing such a club advise the secretary, Margaret K. Stewart, within the next few days and if it is found that there is a sufficient number, an effort will be made to get such a club underway. Cities of a like size throughout the country nearly all have such a club as this, not only for taking care of their own residents, but for the use of outside visitors to the city. Such a club would be a decided advertisement for the community.
