The Juniors level of Little League can be one of the toughest when it comes to finding enough players to fill teams at the all-star level. Flagstaff Girls Softball Little League (FGSLL) was able to field a Juniors All-Star this summer for the first time in a few years. The team, led by head coach Sam Martin, got the chance to host a uniquely formatted District 1 Tournament over the weekend.
Continental Park served as the venue for a two-team, best-of-three series between FGSLL and Mountain Pines Little League, which is based across the Show Low, Pinetop-Lakeside and the White Mountains area of Arizona. Mountain Pines swept the series with wins on Thursday and Friday to take the district title and secure a spot in the state tournament.
