Opening the 4A Conference state tournament at Flagstaff Athletic Club – East on Monday afternoon, the No. 1 Flagstaff Eagles (14-0, 6-0 D-II Grand Canyon) dispatched of No. 16 Valley Christian Trojans (9-7, 5-1 D-II Skyline) with yet another 5-0 sweep.
The Eagles won all five matches in straight sets, with senior Peighton Killeen and freshman Anna Kranzow finishing with one of the most impressive wins of the day, 21-6, 21-8, at No. 2. The fours pairing of seniors Hannah Thom and Kaylee Wilson earned a 21-7, 21-9 victory and the threes of juniors Nidaya Nez and McKenlee Lund won 21-4, 21-10. Juniors Nola Henderson and Elise Welker won 21-6, 21-11 at No. 5, while junior Brynn Hagerman and sophomore Harleigh Moseng won 21-12, 21-10 atop the lineup for the Eagles.
