The Fourth of July is coming up, and if you haven’t made plans yet, you might be surprised to hear Seattle has been dubbed the second-best travel destination! According to AAA, a whopping 72.2 million Americans are gearing up to travel 50 miles or more over the holiday period. Who knew Independence Day could send so many people packing? Maybe everyone’s tired of backyard BBQs and wants a change of scenery!
AAA’s ranking puts Seattle right behind Orlando, Florida in the travel stakes. This year, we’re expected to see a record 61.6 million road warriors on the highways, eager for fireworks, beaches, and all things summer. While New York and Boston might make headlines with their iconic fireworks displays, it’s Seattle that’s stealing the spotlight for a wild weekend. Just imagine: food trucks, music, and a taste of that famous PNW vibe. Sounds like a blast, right?
But hold up—don’t forget to check your vehicle before heading out. Trust me, the last thing you want is to end up stranded while everyone’s celebrating. AAA estimates that around 700,000 emergency roadside assistance calls were made last year. Who knew fireworks could lead to flat tires? Anyway, as we gear up for the Fourth, think about how you’ll celebrate. Will you hit the road or stay local?
What’s your take: Do you prefer a getaway during the holidays or are you happy to stay put? Let’s hear your plans!
