The man accused of causing the deaths of two Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) personnel whose helicopter crashed while assisting in his arrest will stand trial in Flagstaff — but not until January 2028.
Terrell Storey, 50, faces 60 criminal charges for his actions on the night of Feb. 4, 2026, when he allegedly fired a rifle in the direction of Flagstaff police officers and instigated a two-hour standoff. At the end of the confrontation, the DPS helicopter providing overhead observation suddenly crashed into the ground just north of Storey’s neighborhood, killing pilot Robert Skankey and trooper-paramedic Hunter Bennett.
