As of Thursday, Seattle’s sunsets are officially back to the pre-9 p.m. routine. Tonight’s sunset is set for 8:59 p.m., and if that doesn’t put a damper on your plans, how about knowing we’re going to be losing about a minute of sunlight each day until summer bids us adieu? That’s right, soon it’ll be time to start dusting off those nightlights!
The long-awaited 9 p.m. sunsets made their grand entrance on June 2 and peaked at a glorious 9:11 p.m. between June 22 and June 28. The warm evenings have provided perfect opportunities for gatherings, outdoor movies, and leisurely strolls. But as the National Weather Service noted, it’s all part of Earth’s tilt bringing dreams of summer to a bittersweet close. Mother Nature doesn’t hold back when it comes to her seasons!
Even though the clouds are rolling in while we say goodbye, there’s still time to soak up those rays. So grab your favorite evening beverage and take a moment to enjoy what’s left of those radiant moments outside. What will you miss most about those long summer nights?
