Traffic may be improving in Seattle, but don’t break out the party hats just yet. The Emerald City still ranks No. 8 in the worst traffic congestion in the United States, a drop from last year’s third place. Washington, D.C., on the other hand, is now the proud owner of the worst traffic title. And with commuting times averaging 29.2 minutes—making Seattle tied with Miami for the 12th-longest commute—those average travel times feel like just another reason to consider remote work permanently!
The problem doesn’t stop there. Seattle has to deal with an average of six hours and five minutes of congestion each weekday. Who needs a roller coaster when your morning commute already provides the thrills? Drivers in Seattle also face a fatal car crash rate of 7.14 per 100,000 people, ranking it 14th lowest among the major cities analyzed. We might be able to review the stats, but we can all agree: this city and its notorious traffic can put a damper on even the sunniest day.
So, how do you feel about Seattle’s traffic situation? Are you starting to feel a sense of optimism or just considering switching to a bike? Let’s hear your thoughts in the comments below!
