Bouncing back from its first loss in eight games, No. 10-ranked Coconino softball avenged its 9-4 Monday defeat to No. 5 Flagstaff by taking the final matchup in the two-game series in nail-biting action on Wednesday.
In the return game back at Coconino High School — the final home game for the Panthers this regular season — the defending 4A Conference state champions mustered two key runs in the fifth inning to defeat Flagstaff, 2-1.
