With a family history in Flagstaff dating back more than a century, Patrick and Palmer Nackard have long prioritized continuing a legacy that began generations prior to their leadership of Nackard Pepsi.
Though the Nackards officially began their partnership with Pepsi in 1943, the family’s company traces its roots back nearly a decade prior when Patrick’s father, Fred, started bottling drinks for Dr. Pepper. As the story goes, Fred and Phillip were drafted when World War II began and their wives, Monica and Bessie, took over operations for the business. When The Dr. Pepper Company informed the Nackards they wouldn’t allow women to run the business, a new partnership was made.
