Picture this: you’re cruising down the Kananaskis River in Alberta, soaking up the sun and enjoying the great outdoors. Suddenly, your peaceful canoe trip takes a dramatic turn when you find a foal struggling against the current. That’s exactly what happened to University of Calgary students Anna Gleig and Ava Haddad, who discovered this little guy in deep water. Who knew a day on the river could turn into a superhero venture?
Without missing a beat, these two jumped into action, channeling their inner lifeguard and swimmer to save the soaked foal. It turns out, this little creature was surprisingly calm and didn’t put up a fight as they guided him back to safety. I guess he realized these women were there to help, not to start a wild riding lesson! After getting the foal ashore, the duo faced another challenge—where did the mother go? Talk about a cliffhanger!
After some creative problem-solving (and a plain Dalmatian moment of “What now?”), they decided to bring the foal into their canoe to seek help. Imagine the sight of a tired foal napping in a canoe, blissfully unaware that his life just got a whole lot more exciting. Luckily, a friendly fellow from a nearby First Nations community stepped up, helped load the little guy into a truck, and confirmed he was reunited with his mother. Phew! Definitely a heartwarming tale with a happy ending.
