A hit-and-run incident in Shelton has deputies hunting for a silver or white Pontiac driver who thought they could escape the law by simply hitting the gas. The Mason County Sheriff’s Office reported that this all went down at 5 a.m. on E. Johns Prairie Road, right when most of us are dreaming about our next cup of coffee. Unfortunately for this driver, they won’t be getting any peace and quiet, as the sheriff’s office is appealing to anyone who might have seen anything to step forward.
It’s baffling how someone can hit another person and just keep driving. One would think that instinct would kick in and tell you to stop and check on the other person—or, at the very least, feel a twinge of guilt. The sheriff’s office is encouraging witnesses to contact them with any information and has provided a couple of ways to reach out, which sounds a lot easier than trying to dodge the consequences of a hit-and-run charge!
While this might feel like a scene right out of a movie, it’s real life, and we all know how these stories often end. One can only hope this driver takes a cue from the classic “come clean” trope before the law catches up to them. So, has anyone ever hit the road and felt that nagging guilt afterwards? It’s a story worth sharing, so let’s hear your thoughts in the comments!
