It’s that time again—Primary Election Day has touched down in Washington! Voters are ready to make some big choices today, especially as some races are heating up like a Seattle coffee on a cold morning. Among the focal points, the Seattle mayoral race is particularly spicy, with incumbent Bruce Harrell neck and neck with challenger Katie Wilson. A recent poll indicates it’s almost a statistical tie, and with that much tension, it’s basically primary season’s version of the Super Bowl!
With ballots due by 8 p.m., folks are reminded to get their votes in before the “I forgot” excuse kicks in. After all, this is when we really get to decide how our tax dollars are put to work—whether it’s for chocolate fountains in parks or fixing those potholes that could practically swallow your car. And just a quick heads-up: Garfield County and Columbia County are sitting this primary out, which begs the question—shouldn’t we be tossing them some popcorn at this point?
Soon enough, we’ll see who emerges victorious from the primary, with results rolling in around August 5. Candidates are eyeing the November ballot with hopes high and expectations even higher. So, do you think these elections will spark great change in our communities? Or will it be a case of “same old, same old”? Either way, I’m just happy we still get to yell at our screens as the results come in!
