A surprising twist in North Seattle this morning as a power outage knocked out electricity for nearly 3,000 Seattle City Light customers. The outage hit at 8:28 a.m., affecting the neighborhoods of Victory Heights and Meadowbrook. Just think about it—3,000 people scrambling for candles or wondering where they hid their flashlights! As of 10 a.m., the numbers improved, but let’s be honest—nobody wants to hear the words “restoration time” when you’ve got a fridge full of Alaskan salmon.
Seattle City Light crews are hard at work investigating the cause, with restoration expected by 3 p.m. Meanwhile, an additional outage in South Seattle impacted 321 customers, offering even more fodder for the conspiracy theorists among us. Seriously though, does it ever feel like the power company is playing a game of “pin the tail on the outage”?
So, what do you do when the power goes out? It’s a great excuse to dive into board games or crack open a good book—preferably one that doesn’t rely on electricity. And while we’re at it, give us your best tips for weathering an outage! Is it candlelight dinners for you, or more “argh, where’s the nearest coffee shop?” Let’s hear all about it!
