1926: With Thursday’s total of $18,700 far surpassing all expectations for the fourth day of the campaign, the teams returned to their work in the afternoon with renewed enthusiasm and “pep” and a resolution to bring the total Friday up to the $150,000 mark. Flagstaff’s new hotel now has nearly 400 stockholders and by the close of the campaign, there will in all probability be close to 600 citizens of Flagstaff financially interested in the hotel. According to Mr. Webster of the Hockenbury System, Inc., this represents a very fine showing, considering the size of the city. “Our project list, at the opening of the campaign, contained 761 names. To these, 166 names of people in the city who would be interested in the project have been added by the salesmen, making a total of 927 names. 749 of these 927 names have been taken out by the men, leaving 178 yet in the files. 411 cards have been reported on and 338 are yet in the hands of the sales organization.” With the sales organization of the hotel campaign well under way and accomplishing excellent results and practically a 100% attendance at the daily luncheons in the Women’s club, it looks as if Flagstaff’s new hotel would soon become a reality.
