Flood watch issued by NWS for parts of northern Arizona as thunderstorms arrive Thursday

The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Bellemont issued another flood watch on Thursday for multiple areas around northern Arizona. Included in the areas for the watch were Page, Fredonia, Lees Ferry, Supai, the Grand Canyon North Rim, Jacob Lake, Grand Canyon Village, Tusayan, Valle, Ash Fork, Seligman, Payson, Strawberry, Sedona, the Village of Oak Creek and Cottonwood.

Beginning at 11 a.m. MST on Thursday until 11 p.m. MST, the watch warns that flash flooding is possible due to excessive rainfall. Creeks, normally dry washes, swimming holes, and recently burned areas could be impacted. Raging killer currents will be possible in side canyons and narrow slot canyons according to the NWS. Low-water crossings may be flooded.
