Flagstaff voters are being asked to approve an updated Regional Plan, and as chair of the citizen committee that reviewed it before referral to the ballot, I want to correct several misleading claims circulating in our community.
Some context first. Arizona law requires every municipality to maintain and periodically update a long-range plan. Longtime residents have voted on previous versions. This is a routine update to the community’s long-term planning document, designed to give future land-use decisions a consistent framework rather than leaving them to ad hoc, project-by-project judgment.
