Our country has once again faced deadly violence at the hands of ICE. Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, 52, was shot to death in Houston, Texas on July 7. Joan Durán Guerrero, was fatally shot in Biddeford, Maine six days later on July 13. A third immigrant was fatally struck by a tractor-trailer while running from ICE in St. Augustine, Florida the very next day, July 14.
We at Keep Flagstaff Together would like to take a moment of your time to remember these men who were killed on their way to work. These encounters continue to demonstrate consistent terrorism from an agency supposedly enforcing our nation’s security. Despite protests and reports saying traffic stops will pause, the Trump administration is doubling down, saying that they are a necessary tool and will continue. Both Salgado and Guerrero were shot to death in their cars, even though they were not the targets ICE was seeking.
