Battling through a gusty day on their home courts, the No. 1 Flagstaff Eagles (15-0, 6-0 D-II Grand Canyon) returned to the 4A Conference state semifinals with a 4-1 victory against the No. 8 Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks (11-3, 2-0 D-II Tucson) on Wednesday.
Qualifying for the state semifinals for the third consecutive year and fourth time in five seasons, Flagstaff dropped a match for the first time since its 4-1 victory against Sunnyslope on March 6. Three matches went to a third set, with the Eagles pulling out a victory in two of them.
