The No. 24-ranked Coconino baseball team’s nightmare fifth inning flipped the score in favor of No. 25 Mingus Union on Friday, as a five-run frame helped the Marauders edge out the Panthers, 6-5, in a region bout at Coconino High School.
The game began with senior pitcher Caleb Begay on the mound for the Panthers, and he pitched a shaky first inning. The Marauders drew first blood after sophomore Silas Scott drew a base on balls with the bases loaded. Thankfully for the Panthers, they were able to escape the top of the first with only one Marauders runner getting home, as Begay struck out senior Manuel Munoz in the next at-bat.
