An orthopedic surgeon at Northern Arizona Healthcare’s (NAH) Orthopedic and Spine Institute in Flagstaff was the first in Arizona to implant a new type of prosthesis designed to treat arthritis in the base of the thumb.
Dr. Peter Gibson performed the surgery on Cottonwood resident Roberta Steidl March 31, and around two weeks later both said recovery has been going well.
